LNER A4 liveries - what if

Imagine this - the Peppercorn A1 never got beyond the design stages. With an increase of post war passenger traffic, there were no spare locomotives capable of hauling a fast freight on the ECML. Therefore BR decided to build a new batch of A4's at Doncaster with three sets of walschaerts valve gear, eradicating the old major probelm of the A4s. The locomotives were finished in lined black and were sometimes required for expresses. The numbering series would have started at 60114, which was in real life, allocated to the prototype Peppercorn A1 'W.P Allen'
